I've been for a few blow dries since living in London and blogging and as fun as it is, I always leave with that disappointed feeling. You know that feeling where you think you could have done that yourself and that it looks exactly like you do when you do your own hair at home. I want to leave a salon feeling excited about my new do and I'd never felt that until I went for the Chelsea Blow Dry* at the Richard Ward salon in Sloane Square, London. And if I'm honest, I've not felt it since either...
Before going I had another of those 'can I really be bothered' moments. Thinking back to all of my disappointing blow outs in the past and wondering whether it really was worth going to get done something I'd only go home and wash out a few hours later. For some reason I decided to (probably because I'd get to see the lovely Lauren from Media Hubb) and I honestly cannot tell you how happy I am that I did. From stepping into the salon, I fell in love. It's just gorgeous and so luxurious, but you know, any salon can look amazing, it's what they actually do in there that counts and Richard Ward definitely hit the spot with my blow dry. It was incredible.
Like I mentioned before, I was having the Chelsea Blow Dry by the amazing Salon Director, Matt Hawes. Seriously, this guy is magic. I don't know how he did it (well, I kind of do, I was watching after all), but I was truly blown away (excuse the pun). Using the new Chelsea Collection from the bargainous Richard Ward hair care range, I was given a voluminous blow dry that left my hair looking and feeling unlike it had ever before. You honestly wouldn't have been able to tell that it wasn't the usual salon products being used because the affordable Richard Ward Chelsea Collection range felt and smelt exactly the same. The range is currently exclusive to Waitrose costing around £6 a piece, and I honestly am just gobsmacked by the price point for such a luxe product - seriously go out and get your hands on it now, it's incredible for the price! If anything can make my hair look like this, then I need it in my life, instantly!
After using the amazing products Matt Hawes went on to the actual blow dry part of the Chelsea Blow Dry. To get the curls, rollers were used under one of hood dryers, I felt like a grandma/someone out of Grease but I was so intrigued as I had never used rollers before and this is what I'm going to put the amazing curls and volume down to. It left my hair looking unlike I'd ever seen it before. I literally felt a million dollars. I left the salon feeling so special and expensive and well, just amazing. I can't quite describe it well enough, but it's that feeling I had been missing all along with any other blow dry I had ever had before and I never wanted to keep it so I'd always just wash it again in the evening like I usually would but this blow dry changed everything. I'm usually terrible and I usually wash my hair every night but this changed that and I just wanted it to last forever, so I pushed the boat out and left it a few days before washing my hair again. I would top it up with a bit of dry shampoo but it still looked amazing. I just couldn't believe it. It was honestly insanely good. I've washed my hair everyday for years and years and this was what stopped me from doing that so I feel like that says it all really, and I managed to take a bloody good selfie.
If you follow me on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook then you'll have probably spied this selfie previously, or perhaps just if you're a regular reader of my ol' blog (changed my little profile picture to it didn't I). This was taken in one take. ONE TAKE. Literally that is unheard of in the selfie world. Usually I nail it on the 50th and then I'm not even happy with it, but this picture just captured how amazing my hair looked, and literally how amazing I felt with it. I don't mean to blow my own trumpet, but I never feel like I look this great, so you know, I might as well make the most of it while I do.
As you can tell I was the biggest fan of the Richard Ward salon and of course Matt Hawes handiwork with the amazing Chelsea Blow Dry using the Richard Ward Chelsea Collection. I'm now completely their number one fan and it's given me a little bit more faith in the salon world. I mean, if this salon can make me feel this great then who's to say another one can't too? I wonder if anyone can live up to my now crazy high expectations...
If you're looking for a super luxe blow dry to make you feel a million dollars then this is your guy. Based in London, this would be great for a special occasion and trust me, it's worth shedding out the cash to feel the way I felt. And I can vouch for it and say it lasted longer than a few hours, something I notice with most. You need to visit Richard Ward if you felt like I did with your previous blow dry experiences, or you just need to visit anyway. I'm amazed, but you can probably tell that already...
Have you ever had an amazing blow dry before? Let me know where!
